Prof. Dr. rer. nat. U.F. Vogt is Senior Scientist at EMPA Dübendorf, Department Hydrogen & Energy. He has done his PhD in Natural Science at the Albert-Ludwig-University in Freiburg, Germany. During his professional career he was engaged at Krupp-Polysius, Neubeckum, in the R&D department for cement chemistry for 4 years. The following 6 years he was leading a research groups at Alusuisse-Lonza Services AG, Switzerland and was responsible for the synthesis of nonoxide ceramics, ceramic materials characterisation and ceramic processing. At EMPA he is engaged since over 20 years, working on the general topic “Materials for Energy Technology”. He is engaged in engineering ceramics in general with the main focus on Perovskite synthesis and characterisation for SOFCs/SOECs applications, membrane development for alkaline electrolysis and catalytic hydrogen combustion. He authored numerous publications and patents and is lecturer at the University of Freiburg (D), where he was appointed to a professorship.
