I am an international education and governance professional with extensive experience delivering complex initiatives across higher education, with a strong focus on international engagement, student experience and institutional strategy. My career in international education has involved leading and overseeing large-scale initiatives across international student support, global engagement while working closely with academic leaders, central portfolios and external partners. I have managed strategy development, operational delivery and stakeholder coordination across culturally and politically complex environments, including work supporting institutional expansion and partnerships in India and the Indo-Pacific region. Alongside my executive-facing international education roles, I bring deep experience in governance and board leadership. I have served on multiple boards, including as Company Secretary and Board Chair of both a Victorian incorporated association and an ACNC-registered organisation. In these capacities, I have led governance reform, ensured regulatory and constitutional compliance, overseen risk and financial management, and supported boards to operate effectively within demanding legislative and regulatory frameworks. Within the university context, I have served as a Senate Member and Director of the University, contributing to high-level strategic oversight, policy direction and financial governance. This included approval of consolidated financial statements exceeding $2 billion and service across more than 25 committees spanning academic governance, research, finance and risk. I hold qualifications in commerce and international relations and am a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. My background also includes experience in audit and assurance, strengthening my approach to governance, accountability and risk management. Leading strategic projects that support the establishment of UWA India and strengthen UWA’s broader engagement across India and the South Asia region. Work across academic schools, industry partners, government agencies, state leadership and external partners to help translate institutional strategy into operational delivery, supporting teaching and learning readiness, governance structures and cross‑border project coordination. Act as a key interface between UWA Crawley, UWA India and South Asia‑based partners, assisting senior leaders by driving progress, managing complexity and enabling coordinated decision‑making in a dynamic international higher education environment. Responsibilities include: • coordinating multi‑stakeholder project workstreams across academic, operational and international engagement portfolios • supporting development of operational frameworks, governance processes and delivery models for UWA India and South Asia initiatives • ensuring project alignment with institutional strategy, risk settings and regional regulatory considerations • facilitating communication, reporting and issue resolution between Australian, India and South Asia teams • assisting senior leaders with project management, dependencies and implementation pathways across the region
• Lead and manage strategic engagement initiatives that support international students’ academic, social and cultural integration, overseeing budgets, risk management and reporting. • Serve as the primary liaison between international students and University staff, government agencies and external organisations, advocating for student needs and well-being. • Comply with the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students (National Code, 2018), particularly for under-18 students, managing external agencies and acting as the main point of contact for minors. Key Achievements: • Developed and implemented the International Student Link program, awarded ‘Western Australian International Education Program of the Year’ by the Council of International Students WA. • Streamlined international student support services into four core pillars to drive cost efficiency and accessibility resulting in uptake of services despite lowering resources.
In this role as the Communication and Engagement Officer for the Global Engagement Office, I: - Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans, ensuring seamless dissemination of Global Engagement-related activities to UWA's dynamic staff and student body; - Lead content creation and curation for various social media platforms, spotlighting the Office's initiatives and achievements, resulting in increased engagement and visibility; - Craft compelling media releases, articles, and communication materials to showcase Global Engagement accomplishments, enhancing UWA's positive public image; - Spearhead the preparation and management of Corporate Global Engagement collateral, including PowerPoints, flyers, merchandise, and an extensive image/video library; - Coordinate the redesign of UWA's Global Engagement website, ensuring it remains dynamic, accurate, and engaging for internal and external audiences; - Work closely with the University's marketing team, graphic designers, printers, and photographers, ensuring a cohesive approach to communication materials;
Chaired the governing board of Australia’s peak body for more than 485,000 postgraduate students, provided strategic leadership, governance oversight and high‑level advocacy across the higher education sector. Lead Board decision‑making, guide organisational strategy, and strengthen CAPA’s role as a trusted national voice representing 28 university postgraduate associations and NATSIPA. Drive strong governance, risk management and financial stewardship within a public‑facing not‑for‑profit environment. Work collaboratively with Board members, executives and operational teams to embed accountability, ethical leadership and evidence‑based decision‑making. Set the organisation’s risk appetite and ensure assurance, transparency and compliance frameworks are practical, sustainable and aligned with regulatory expectations. Partner closely with management on financial governance, including budgeting, forecasting, expenditure oversight and statutory reporting. Serve as the legally designated Responsible Officer, supporting compliance with Victorian incorporated association requirements and ACNC obligations. Provide guidance on interpreting regulatory and higher education frameworks to mitigate risk and strengthen informed governance. Key achievements: - Led a full governance and compliance restoration program addressing legacy issues from 2020–2023, including resolution of historical non‑compliance with Consumer Affairs Victoria and identification of approximately $200,000 in mismanaged funds. - Supported the Board to secure ACNC registration in 2025, strengthening transparency, accountability and long‑term organisational sustainability. - Oversaw financial and membership reforms that restored organisational stability, increasing affiliation fee collection to nearly $130,000 by December 2024. - Guided development and implementation of the 2025–2026 Strategic Plan, reinforcing CAPA’s position as an authoritative and influential voice in Australian higher education.
As the Association Secretary and Board Member, I served on the board of directors for an organisation incorporated in Victoria, providing core governance support and ensuring the Board operated with transparency, accountability and compliance. Responsibilities included: • advising the Board and its committees on governance, regulatory obligations and best‑practice processes • monitoring adherence to Board and committee policies, procedures and decision‑making frameworks • coordinating the timely preparation and distribution of Board and committee papers • ensuring accurate, complete and compliant minute‑taking for all Board and committee meetings • organising and facilitating director induction, onboarding and ongoing professional development Key outcomes: • strengthened governance capability by embedding clearer processes, documentation standards and compliance practices • improved Board effectiveness through more structured meeting preparation, record‑keeping and policy adherence • enhanced director readiness and engagement through refreshed induction and development support
Elected to represent over 7000 postgraduate students at the University. In this role, I; - Advocated, supported, and consulted with students to ensure student experience is maintained at the highest level and kept consistent with their needs; - Co-authored the Student body's response to the WA Governement's state review into the University Sector - Acted as part of the board of director of the Guild, managing a budget of $3.5M AUD and turnover of $13M AUD; - Lead an all rounded committee of 35 Postgraduate students to representative different areas of studies and equity groups across campus; - Redeveloped the engagement strategy of the PSA by enhancing and expanding our platforms which derived a 180% increase in overall engagement - Applied and received more than 5-figures in cash sponsorship for the organisation, allowing us to deliver more to students at a lower cost to them - Represented students on more than 25 University Committees, some of which include the Academic Council, Academic Board, Appeals Comittee, Discipline Committee, Student Experience Committee, Research Committee & Board of the Graduate Research School; and - Represented the UWA Postgraduate Student Body Nationally.
