Researcher focused on: • analysing navigation weather conditions influence on the propulsive properties and the main engine (ME) load rate of large sea-going merchant vessels, and developing a technique for evaluating correlation between ME specified output and vessel service speed; • developing techniques for simulating navigation weather conditions and selecting most advantageous route with further evaluation of weather routing influence on voyage fuel consumption and average service speed; • developing a set of recommendations for determining the rational ME specified output values for MPP design stage; • formulating an adaptive mathematical model for determining sea-going vessels propulsive properties under different service conditions. Interested in academic work as well, and perhaps advising corporations on decrease fuel consumption issues. Specialties: Developing methods for evaluating sufficiency of Monte-Carlo experiments number, and also expedients for its decreasing in marine power plant simulation and system analysis. Formalizing mathematical models and algorithms, developing methods and software for main engine load rate and vessel route optimisation, aimed at voyage fuel consumption minimization; analysis of their effectiveness in use.
Marine power plants (MPP) with diesel main engine (ME) perfection based on computer simulation; developing software for optimising main characteristics and performance of vessels’ propulsive units; optimum weather routing and ME proper mode of running choice during ocean voyages. Lecturing on “Mathematical Methods and Models in Computer-based Calculations”, “Propulsive Complex”, etc. for under-graduate and graduate students, and other special courses for Master and PhD degree students, project tutoring and supervision. Development of the theoretical basis and methodological means for determining the rational values of vessel’s ME load rate and specified output, aimed at minimizing voyage fuel consumption, taking into account navigation weather conditions and possibilities of effective and flexible control of ME load rate and selecting the rational ship route. Revealing the general regularities in impact of ME specified output on the effectiveness of shipping services.
