Physicist, Sigray INC., Concord, CA, June 2015-March 2021 Sigray designs and builds novel high brightness / high resolution X-Ray imaging tools. The aim is to provide customers with synchrotron-based capabilities with laboratory systems. As a physicist in the X-Ray source division I design, build, test, install and maintain high brightness X-Ray sources: Full cycle engineering: follow the project from formulating system requirements through mechanical, electric and vacuum designs; through testing campaigns on to customer delivery and support. Work with customers to formulate and define system requirements and benchmarks Design systems with mechanical engineers to meet the requirements (high vacuum - low outgassing, micron scale mechanical stability, thermal stability, high voltage, etc.) Design, implement and utilize high predictive value test protocols. Lead performance validation companigns, provide feedback to the upgrade and redesign cycles. Repaired, setup, run and maintained Ti:Saphire laser system (200 fs up to 1mJ) Waveguide writing: systematic study to optimize chemical composition, pulse duration, pulse energy, writing speed Near/far-field characterization of the waveguides created to deduce change in the index of refraction Raman/Fluorescence spectroscopy of the modifications to infer structural changes of the glass.
