I have completed data requests with partnering laboratories and other city departments from databases that have over 4 million records. While working with large databases, I have solved complex data issues that involve cleaning, standardizing, and deduping records. I have also identified missing information and match them to different data sources to fill in gaps using primary keys. I have maintained and worked with disease surveillance systems. My work with the Philadelphia Dept. of Public Health has strengthen my skills in data analytics, problem-solving, automation, python, and R.
Through the Twitter Conversational Health Project, I analyze tweets in order to detect and code for uncivil and intolerant discourse among political and immigration topics occurring on Twitter. I assisted the team in modifying a civility codebook that is used to determine the varieties of incivility and intolerance and to differentiate between the two categories. Each week, I am assigned over 500 tweets to code for 11 different subcategories of uncivil and intolerant speech. The dataset that I code is used for a machine learning algorithm that is being trained to measure patterns that will be able to detect these types of discussions on Twitter. I also attend an adjudication meetings each week to discuss disagreements among the weekly datasets with my team members from different universities.
Working with a team of 5 members, I assist and participate in curating themed playlists that depict a certain mood or genre. I also research and discover small, independent artists to showcase online. I help produce a brand for the radio station through music selection and playlist creation.
My love for music and technology has gotten me involved in the student-run radio station at Syracuse. I host my own show that is live on air each week and carefully handle the electronic equipment. I provide quality entertainment for the Syracuse community and other listeners from all over the country. This is a way to express my creativity in the midst of a stressful school week.
