Vivian Nguyen is a science communications professional with a focus on social impact. Her work combines creativity and strategy to connect people with purpose-driven initiatives through stakeholder engagement, project management, and elevating community voices. Beginning her career managing social media channels for brands and public figures, Vivian found her craft in translating digital engagement into real-world action. Today, she blends her communications expertise with a strong foundation in environmental science within her company, Via Vivian LLC. Via Vivian LLC is a communications consultancy that supports clients in mission-driven campaigns. Through intentional storytelling and strategy, she is bridging science and social impact education to audiences globally. Since 2023, she has been able to work on sustainability reporting, campaign development with communications organizations, and aiding clients in making impact messaging engaging and accessible. In 2025, Vivian was selected as an OceanX Young Explorer, where she joined an expedition aboard the R/V OceanXplorer from Gran Canaria, Spain to Schiedam, Netherlands. There, she went behind the scenes of the media vessel, merging science storytelling with digital platforms to educate audiences on marine conservation and climate policy. Vivian is an Early Career Fellow with the Center for Developing Leadership in Science at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, where she works alongside scientists addressing environmental justice, DEI, and climate resilience. Her fellowship centers on supporting Tribal organizations and nonprofits across the United States by helping them expand their impact through program activations and the development of accessible communications tools. Her work plays a pivotal role in providing resources that bridge science and community engagement. Her research on broadening participation in the geosciences, supported by the National Science Foundation, focuses on using digital media to build more inclusive pathways into STEM fields. Vivian holds a B.S. in Public Relations with a minor in Leadership in Global Sustainability from the University of Texas at Austin.
