Vittorio Giampietro (Rome, May 1976) is an Italian musician, composer, music designer and sound artist with a classical/jazz background. He studied harmony and composition with Barry Harris in NY and sound design at the London Film School. He composes and records original music for film, theater and dance, advertising and video art. His major works are the soundtracks for award-winning films and videos such as "The Tale of King Crab" (in competition at the Directors' Fortnight - Cannes '21 and winner of the FIPRESCI Price at the Viennale '21), "Il Solengo" (winner of Doc Lisboa '15 and Torino Film Festival '15) and "Woza [Mami Wata]" (Bronze Lion at Cannes Lions '17) and his compositions have been part of art exhibitions and video installations in museums and galleries in Europe (Rome, Milan, Berlin, Madrid). His collaborations also span the fields of contemporary dance (original music for "Alexis 2.0", "Tu" and collaborations as a musical tutor with the CID Oriente Occidente of Rovereto) and theater, where he recently curated the music for Pirelli's 150th anniversary in collaboration with the Piccolo Teatro di Milano. Since 2015, he has been deepening and developing soundtracks and original music for projects in VR, including the episodic documentary "Il Dubbio" (in competition at La Biennale di Venezia '20 -'21) and "1923: Past Futures" (short film for 'Triennale di Milano''s 100th anniversary).
