Automatic API-ification of mainframe and Java monolithic applications, including automatic conversion of COBOL programs to Java. I received the Spotlight Award from a key stakeholder, who noted that I positioned myself as "Mrs. Mainframe APIfication" within IBM Research. I was appreciated for my team spirit, adding value, depth, and practicality to the APIfication tool. Successful client interactions. Recommendation on https://www.linkedin.com/in/vini-kanvar-phd/.
I worked as a Senior Research Engineer in the Verification Solutions group of Synopsys which enabled semiconductor companies to cut months off their design schedules by performing automated verification of advanced silicon chips. I was in-charge of developing the latest VHDL-2008 language constructs. Apart from this, I provided several high priority enhancements in our VHDL and Verilog formal verifier.
Project: Heap analysis for compile time garbage collection and solving memory leaks using GCC. I conceptualized and built ABHA (Access Based Heap Analyzer) tool for analysis of industry software. Github link to my source code: https://github.com/vinikanvar/ABHA (40,000 lines of code). I developed a new abstraction of heap memory and demonstrated its superior precision – practically and theoretically – over the traditional technique. I developed more precise yet scalable and efficient algorithms for better compile time garbage collection and solving memory leaks using the GCC. I handled complex data structures and multithreaded computing for efficient program analyses of tens of thousands of lines of benchmarks. The work involved the following two interwoven analyses: Heap pointer analysis estimates possible heap structures for all possible execution paths. Heap liveness analysis estimates the future usages of all heap objects, at each program point. I received TCS Research Scholarship for 4 years.
I developed and tested a high performance C-library to detect loops and duplicated paths in a directed graph. I worked in a product engineering environment, and saw this product release from a close quarter. I also developed dynamic web server pages using Tcl Scripting Language for producing automatic analysis of logs on ION server. Recommendation on https://www.linkedin.com/in/vini-kanvar-phd/.
