I received my B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University Politecnico di Bari in Italy, in 2008. In 2011 I received my M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University Politecnico di Milano. In 2012 I received a M.Sc. degree in Telematics Engineering at University Carlos III of Madrid. From 2011 to 2015 I was Research Assistant at IMDEA Networks, focusing on inter-cell coordinated scheduling for LTE-Advanced networks and device-to-device communication. I was mostly involved in the FP7 CROWD project dealing with wireless scheduling issues. I have also focused on new communication technologies, such as mm-waves in cellular network design, within the framework of the co-founded European/Japanese project MiWEBA. Currently, I am a Research Scientist at NEC Laboratories Europe in Heidelberg, focusing my activity on network virtualization and network slicing operations. I'm involved in the H2020 European Project 5G NORMA, where I focus on architecture definition and network slicing operations. I published more than 20 scientific publications and I use to serve as a TPC member and/or reviewer for (among the others) IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE WoWMoM, IEEE SECON, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications (JSAC) and Elsevier Computer Communication, since 2012.
I am currently focusing my activity in the area of network virtualization and network slicing challenges with an extended vision on mobile edge computing research topic. I was involved in a number of European Projects and several published international Research Papers as well as Patents. Currently, I am the principal investigator of the H2020 5G-Aura research project. I am also involved in the IEEE Emerging Technologies Committee leading the initiatives on Software Defined Networking & Network Function Virtualization.
