Develop, plan, conduct educational and developmentally appropriate activities for students; work on a team basis with the teacher assistant in curriculum implementation and student evaluations, as well as maintain Galileo student database; assess educational and social needs of the students, establish learning goals and prepare weekly lesson plans per Head Start curriculum standard; refer students for additional assistance if needed; create a warm, safe, inviting atmosphere within the classroom in order to promote student-teacher relationships; maintain open and effective communication with parents as well as other professionals such as supervisors, social workers, speech/language pathologists and colleagues, perform bus and kitchen duty, assist with any and all other duties as assigned.
Provide access and implement activities that promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth while including imaginative play. Attend to children’s basic care and need such as hygiene, learning, and developmental activities, specialized programs, and redirection of children. Establish and enforce rules of behavior and procedures for maintaining order and safety. Communicate directly with parents. Maintain classroom records, cleanliness, and orderliness.
Assist in the teaching of all core subjects to include math, reading, spelling and social studies. Prepare lesson materials, demonstrations, grade assignments. Organize classroom, take attendance, monitor students, assist and supervise in play
