Singapore
I am a Singaporean and a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors (FSID). I am also a Senior Accredited Director by the Institute. I am a Board Director at ESSEC which is an international business school with French roots. I am also a mentor and volunteer. I led Singapore International Chamber of Commerce, Singapore's longest-serving, independent business association, for over 11 years first as Chief Operating Officer and then for over 10 years as Chief Executive. My team and I served the interests of member companies of all sizes and from all sectors. I began my career as an expat in commercial banking as a generalist. I worked in cash, internal audit, trade finance, branch management and in personal and commercial lending in Hong Kong, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom. I then became a correspondent banking specialist working on local terms based in Singapore. I served institutional clients’ correspondent banking needs in southeast and south Asia and in east and southern Africa too. My remaining years in banking were spent serving global custodians and their clients.
When my Board appointed successor did not work out, the Board requested me to return to lead the Chamber until it appointed a another successor.
I led a team dedicated to helping Chamber members and Singapore succeed.
I joined to take responsibility for the effective running of the Secretariat. SICC was established in Singapore in 1837 and its purpose was and is to help businesses and Singapore.
A senior business management role leading a team serving global custodians and their clients.
This was my last role for the entity which I joined in July 1991 when it was called Republic National Bank of New York. It was acquired by HSBC in December 1999. I was a corresponding banking specialist. As the Singapore branch CEO I performed a key integration management role coupled with business and team management.
Joined the expatriate graduate programme straight after university. I worked in every team you can think of from cashiering, to consumer, commercial and institutional banking, including trade finance and consumer, commercial and corporate lending as well as internal audit.
