Working as backend engineer in Credit Cards team, more specifically in the billing business. Working with a distributed system, we use Kafka for async communication between the services. We use Kotlin + Ratpack/Ktor for the backend services (reactive programming), and use Aurora Db as our main db. Also we are leading the usage of Debezium (CDC pattern) for better consistency/recovery in our distributed system.
As a sr backend engineer I’m responsible of designing, developing and maintaining some of the systems in our B2C business. As a high level overview, I’m currently working with: - Distributed and high availability systems. - Kotlin as the main language. Also Ruby (RoR) when needed. - Reactive development with SpringBoot + WebFlux. - Leveraging Kotlin to be used in a functional way. - Kafka as a way to communicate different systems through integration events. - PostgreSQL as main database, using Json type as a document DB. Also using MySQL. - Jenkins for CI/CD pipelines. - Kubernetes for container orchestration. I also advocate for practices like Pair Programming, as I think is the best way to learn, share business knowledge and achieve great quality results.
