A healthcare-focused individual with a strong foundation in nursing training and hands-on clinical exposure across hospital, community, and primary care settings. I have developed practical experience in patient care, including vital signs monitoring, basic nursing procedures, and supporting multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced clinical environments. Alongside my clinical training, I bring experience in customer service and retail roles, where I strengthened my communication skills, adaptability, and ability to work efficiently under pressure. These experiences have helped me build confidence in engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and maintaining professionalism in dynamic settings. I am particularly interested in roles that allow me to further develop my clinical and interpersonal skills while contributing meaningfully to patient care and healthcare operations. I aim to continue growing within the healthcare field as I prepare to begin my studies at NTU.
During my final PRCP placement in a gynaecology ward, I gradually took on increasing responsibilities in patient care. I assisted with taking vital signs, helping patients with mobility, and responding to call bells, while also learning to perform admissions, medication administration, and coordinating investigations for patients. Balancing the responsibilities of both a junior and an in-charge student during busy shifts was challenging, but it taught me how to prioritise tasks, communicate effectively, and remain calm under pressure. More importantly, it allowed me to build meaningful interactions with patients, reassuring them and supporting them through unfamiliar and often stressful hospital experience
I’ve just wrapped up my one-month internship in the surgical and orthopaedic ward, and it has been such an eye-opening experience. Compared to the medical ward, the pace, routines, and type of care were completely different and I learned so much in such a short time. During this posting, I had the opportunity to deepen my understanding of pre- and post-operative care, perform NVA assessments, assist with a wide range of wound dressings, and even carry out tracheostomy suctioning for the first time. I also got to observe traction management and appreciate how each discipline works together to support the patient’s recovery. Truly grateful for the guidance from the nurses and the chance to grow both clinically and personally. Looking forward to bringing these skills with me into my future practice!!!
During my 4-week posting in a Gerontology and Rehabilitation ward, I had the opportunity to take my first patient case, write nursing reports, and perform patient handovers. As a final-year student nurse, I contributed by assisting in daily nursing care, monitoring patients’ progress, and reviewing multidisciplinary notes to understand each patient’s ongoing therapy and treatment plans. This experience deepened my appreciation for holistic patient care and strengthened my confidence in clinical judgement and communication.
1-week internship in the Emergency Department was truly an eye-opening experience that gave me invaluable learning opportunities. Being rotated through different sections of the ED each day allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of patient care in various settings. In triage, I learnt the importance of quick assessments and prioritising patients based on urgency. In the observation area (ICA), I was exposed to continuous monitoring and ongoing management of patients awaiting further decisions. The consultation area taught me how assessments and communication play a role in planning treatment and care. Most importantly, the resuscitation area was a profound learning experience, where I witnessed the critical teamwork and swift interventions needed to stabilise patients in life-threatening conditions. Overall, this internship broadened my perspective of emergency nursing and strengthened my skills and confidence as a student nurse.
My one-week posting in the Operating Theatre was a very eye-opening experience as it is such a specialised area of nursing. I learnt a lot about the different roles nurses take on, including PACU, anaesthetic, scrub, circulating and reception nurses, and how each role is vital to ensuring patient safety and smooth surgical flow. I also had the chance to put into practice skills I learnt in school, such as scrubbing in and assisting as a circulating nurse, which made me feel very accomplished. Overall, it was a really interesting and insightful posting, and I have gained great respect for the people working in this department.
Going into my mental health posting, I initially thought it would be challenging to care for patients to the best of my ability since it’s such a specialised area. But over time, I really grew to appreciate the experience — being able to care for patients with unique needs and learning how to communicate, empathise, and build trust in different ways. It was a meaningful attachment that allowed me to develop a different set of skills and deepen my understanding of holistic nursing care
