Conducting research funded by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on plant response to gravitropism in the Plant and Microbial Biology department at North Carolina State University. This experiment includes studying plant growth at the International Space State (ISS). Laboratory Responsibilities: • Critical thinking and data analysis • Inventory • Independently lead research project Laboratory Skills: • Agrobacterium transformation • Seed harvesting and sterilization • Genome sequencing • Restriction enzyme cloning • Golden Braid cloning • PCR • DNA extraction Presented research findings at Penn State Plant Cell Dynamics Conference.
As an undergraduate student conducting research under the NSF-PIRE project, my role was to evaluate viral evolution in geminiviruses of cassava. This included traveling to Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to perform in-depth research and analysis on infected field plants. Laboratory Skills: • PCR • qPCR • DNA, RNA, Virion Purification • Collect Infected Plant Samples • ELISA Communication Skills: • Collaborate with peers • Present research to NSF committee • Present research at NC Undergraduate Research Symposium
