About

Mechanical/Energy Engineer (HVAC, Cleanrooms & Decarbonisation) based in Zurich. I deliver reliable, low-carbon systems in complex, regulated environments. Combining techno-economic rigour (LCOE, CO₂ accounting & LCA) and the ability to translate complex requirements into solutions. Comfortable from site to boardroom: planning, procurement, delivery, and stakeholder management. Hands-on experience with ventilation upgrades, indoor air quality (IAQ), FMEA and occupancy-based control strategies. Former Net Zero Project Lead for a major UK hospital trust, where I delivered a £2 m decarbonisation project (500 kWth heat pump + 100 kWp PV), secured £920k funding for a 700 kWp PV scheme, and contributed to a successful £40 m government grant. Now in Switzerland I’m focused on HVAC for pharma/cleanrooms (GMP/ISO 14644), energy engineering, and practical value engineering in GMP environments. I bring techno-economic rigour (LCOE, CO₂ accounting & LCA) and the ability to translate complex requirements into solutions. Combustion modelling: experience setting up and interpreting reacting-flow CFD for burners/boilers and thermal processes, including species transport, heat release, and emissions assessment (e.g., NOx/CO), using turbulence–chemistry interaction models in ANSYS Fluent to support design decisions and efficiency/air-quality targets. Toolbox: HVAC, GMP & cleanroom controls, IAQ, BMS, commissioning, troubleshooting, CFD (ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM), CAD, combustion modelling for reacting flows, PRINCE2 project management, stakeholder & supplier management, client engagement. Languages: English & Russian (native), German (A2.2 - currently studying), Spanish (intermediate). Keywords: HVAC, MEP/TGA, building services, cleanroom, GMP, ISO 14644, pharma, ventilation, commissioning, validation, energy efficiency, heat pumps, ASHP, PV, decarbonisation, CO₂ accounting, LCA, IAQ, BMS, CFD, combustion modelling, project management, value engineering, Zurich, Basel, Switzerland.

Experience

  • Industrial Cooling at Carrier
    Mar 2026 - Present · 5 mos

    Multi MW industrial cooling

  • Event Officer at Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
    Mar 2026 - Present · 5 mos

Planning events - site visits and technical talks for IMechE SUI Group

  • Professional development at Career Break
    Apr 2025 - Mar 2026 · 1 yr

Took time out to relocate to Switzerland, focus on German (current B1 learner) language learning, and invest in both technical and personal development (PRINCE2 certification, CV localisation, technical upskilling in CFD and air quality) I am using this period to gain fresh perspectives, volunteer in the community, and build a deeper understanding of the local job market. I have engaged with the IMechE Switzerland group by attending events, organising events and attending the committee meetings for planning and review. Have volunteered with Tortour for several days and have spent a day with Uster Triathlon to set up the venue! Now actively seeking opportunities to apply my skills and experience in a new professional setting!

  • Net Zero Project Lead at NHS
    Nov 2023 - Apr 2025 · 1 yr 6 mos

Scope 1 and 2 decarbonisation for two major specialist hospitals within the UK. Working across Operations, Sustainability, Finance, Procurement and Transport teams to maintain service but reduce energy demand and generation of CO2e. Delivered Trust HQ Decarbonisation - Structural, M&E, Logistics and complex interdepartmental and interorganisational facets were mine to drive forward. The project demanded a broad engineering outlook with ability to focus and understand details outside of discipline. Developed Operating Theatre Occupancy Based Air Handing Unit operation blueprint to use Trust-wide. Estimated recurring annual savings ~£500 000 for both hospitals. Carried out photovoltaic feasibility studies which allowed our team to bid for and win close to £1 000 000 in government funding for installation of photovoltaic panels. Leading several smaller projects around active transport, catering electrification and building surveying for easy wins – LED, stuck heating controls, insulation and estimating energy saved from LC upgrades by Operations and Capital Project teams. Culturally, I ambitiously focused on changing the narrative from solely focusing on decarbonisation to ensuring financial and energy security of the organisation is being considered. This is key for Procurement and Finance team support and de risking the chance of siloed thinking about decarbonisation.

  • Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) (4 yrs 8 mos)
    • Student Chapter UK Pilot Lead/ Volunteer
      Sep 2023 - Apr 2025 · 1 yr 8 mos

I developed and launched the Student Chapter UK Pilot to bring university students and the engineering industry closer together. Since September 2024, we’ve been running activities across the UK as volunteers, aiming to reshape how students engage with industry. Working with university staff and engineers, we tackled early challenges and quickly adapted to make the project more relevant and practical. Now, our working group is focused on strategy for UK regions and building on what we’ve learned. Even from Zurich, I stay involved remotely to keep the momentum going and ensure we keep delivering value.

    • Young Board Member
      May 2022 - Apr 2024 · 2 yrs

      * I attend quarterly meetings with YMB members to contribute to and track progress of board's activities and develop strategy for the IMechE. * Contribute to working groups to increase engagement with membership and promote the engineering profession. Highlighting impact and breaking down actual and perceived barriers for STEM outreach/University students and young professional engineers. Leading Student Chapter Pilot in the NE of England, launched in Oct 2024. * Working with international YMB representatives to innovate in the UK via TRIZ methodology. * Organise Speak Out for Engineering contest for the Tyne & Wear region. This event gives young engineers a rich ground to develop public speaking, technical presentation and broader refinement of crucial soft skills. There is a progression through from heats to regional and ultimately international finals.

    • Project Coordinator
      Sep 2020 - Sep 2022 · 2 yrs 1 mo

      * Building on my work as a volunteer in 2020, project managing the creation of the COVID-19 Manual for Engineers. * The role involves coordinating activities of a tight cohort of IMechE staff and volunteers. Duties involve target setting, progress tracking and expediting actions to deliver outputs. * Working closely with key stakeholders, the aim is to identify rationale behind ideas and deliver in line with strategy. * This Division has real depth of purpose. The simple aim is to ensure that the UK has resilient indoor spaces for the next airborne pandemic and can sustain activities with minimal disruption.
