Contributed to the development of a Hypercar V6 engine for Toyota, using advanced tools and methods to optimize performance, efficiency, and emissions. Led the transformation of the Toyota GR Yaris 3-cylinder engine into a Rally2 competition engine. Involved in Rally2 customer motorsport, working with the development team during week-long rally simulations, gathering feedback from professional rally drivers and test drivers, and working with a team of engine engineers combing through data, delivering key decisions and calibration changes to optimize performance.
Part of the gasoline engine air charge calibration team at Jaguar Land Rover. Worked on theoretical models of the CVVL system with the objective of reverse engineering the system’s inner workings in MATLAB. Contributed to the charge calibration of the company’s new four-cylinder engines, introducing new control strategies for improved breathing leading to efficiency gains and improved fuel economy.
As part of the base engine calibration team my responsibilities include: • Delivery of calibration on time using in house calibration integration tools • Preparation and delivery of performance reports from vehicle testing and bench testing • Design and preparation of experiments, including DOE and Smart-Fitting Point Grids • Calibration using conventional methods and model based calibration techniques • Operate an AVL Test bench independently when necessary Calibration Activity on Magneti Marelli engine management systems: • Charge Air Model (Including VVT and Multiair Engines) • Fuel Model, Linear Lambda Sensor Feedback Loop, On/Off Lambda Heater Control • Exhaust gas temperature model • Base Spark Advance Model and Corrections (Low Ron, Air Temp, off-road etc.) • Turbocharger Model, both conventional and E-Boosted (electric motor assisted) • Gasoline EGR calibration (External EGR and Residual Gas) Other Tasks: • Provided calibration support during a high altitude/hot environmental road test with direct customer involvement. USA(Alfa Romeo Giulia / Stelvio) • Provided calibration support during a cold weather road test with direct customer involvement. Lapland (Volkswagen Platform) • Utilized a barometric vehicle test facility to calibrate turbocharger/waste-gate control at high altitude in preparation for road test • I trained four employees from international plants in emissions testing and software control strategies. • Provided calibration support to emissions testing.
