Medical physicist with experience in the field of photon and ion-beam radiation therapy and MR-linac technology. I obtained my PhD in medical physics from the University of Science and Technology in Krakow (Poland). My PhD project, carried out at the Section for Biomedical Physics of the University Hospital of Tübingen, was concerned with the development of a fast dose computation algorithm for IMRT. I have been working in the field of radiation oncology, both in clinical and in research environment, since March 2008 (as certified medical physicist since April 2010). I participated in the preparation works for the opening of an ion beam facility. My main area of interest were the clinical aspects of ion-beam therapy such as: patient immobilisation, dosimetric robustness for different indications, ion-beam specific delivery aspects, feasibility studies for emerging indications, radiobiological robustness, optimisation of treatment planning and delivery concepts and time-resolved ion-beam dose computation. Between 2015 and 2017 I worked as a senior medical physicist at the Marburg Ion-Beam Therapy Center (MIT). Initially, I engaged in the whole spectrum of facility acceptance and commissioning tasks and other preparatory activities. Since the start of clinical operation, I have been conducting routine duties (QA, on-site technical supervision and troubleshooting during the daily operation, treatment planning with proton and carbon ion beams) and working on further procedure and workflow improvements and feasibility studies for new indications. Next, I worked at the Ingham Institute, one of four institutions in the world developing MRI-Linac technology, and my responsibilities included the dosimetric optimisation and commissioning of the linear accelerator of the MRI-Linac system, establishing the QA procedures and protocols, participation in the fine-tuning of the system layout, participation in the selection of the dosimetric equipment. Currently I am employed as clinical Medical Physicist at GenesisCare.
Responsibilities: Initially, performing facility commissioning measurements, TPS acceptance testing and commissioning. After the clinical opening, conducting and supervising regular QA (in particular the extensive daily QA), troubleshooting during the daily operation, treatment planning, feasibility studies for new indications, patient specific QA, appointment as radiation protection officer.
