One of the first lessons I learned at FIT was how important it is to work in retail. Although it might be tedious, it gives you insight to the consumer first hand. You get to see what gets picked up, and what gets put down. At Brandy Melville I had to interact with all types of consumers. From tourists on the weekend to locals and the weekdays we staged the store completely differently each week. It was an amazing opportunity to get into the mind of the customer and see just what gets them to make that final purchase.
Rogue is a curated vintage shop in the Lower East Side. Here I did a little bit of everything. I worked on stocking and inventory organization, but my main job was doing social media promotion. I conducted interviews with customers for the social media accounts of the store. The most important task of this job was being creative on the spot. I had to ask socially relevant questions to strangers and segway them into talking about and promoting the store and its inventory on the spot.
