Project Lead for the planning and implementation of the site reduction, equipment consolidation and replacement, and OS upgrades for six Army Processing Centers. These six sites had two or three mainframes each running MVS/XA and had to be upgraded to MVS/ESA for Y2K compliance and to prepare for the move to a single central site. I lead a team of five members to bring the operating systems and supporting products into compliance and into a common baseline as the first step to consolidation. Project Lead for thirteen more MVS upgrades, this time for Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) sites who were running out of time to achieve Y2K compliance. These mainframes had already been moved to a central site but needed to be updated for compliance and common baseline as the first step to consolidation. Contract Lead for technical support contract. Instrumental in the award of a six slot sole-source contract and led the effort to establish operational support policies and procedures and retrain the staff in the technology for the new UNIX and Windows based workloads. Managed an EMC Clarion Storage Array and an Inrange Fiber Channel Director. Installed and configured VMWare ESX (early version) in a high availability configuration with Hitachi Storage Array and Red Hat Linux Enterprise virtual guests. Sub-contract Lead for half of a thirty-three person technical support contract. The project I started and led previously was expanded and awarded to a new prime contractor.
