1) Private home care nurse: Provide home-care nursing services to elderly and patients in vegetative state Services offered include: - Post-surgery personal nursing care at home after discharge from hospitals - Daily home care elderly services, including daily activities companion, out-patient escort, administering medications 2) Assist medical staff in hospital ward settings: Provide assistance of nursing services in public & private hospitals with emergency staff shortage Nursing services include: - Basic routine care, such as vital signs and h’stix taking and documenting - Administering medications - Ryle’s tube feeding - Foley catheter care - Napkin round & turning, etc.
Ward nurse: - Hong Kong’s top-notch private teaching hospital Part of IHH Healthcare, one of the world’s largest healthcare providers Responsibilities as a Registered Nurse (orthopaedic) are summarised but not limited to: - Supporting the smooth running of clinical services and safe orthopaedic nursing care to patients - Ensure good patient care at ward level, especially for critically ill patients - Provide total patient care and implement safety work for maintaining safe practice related to orthopaedic nursing care - Attending to new patients, assessing their symptoms and pain score, relieving any discomfort before surgery - Getting patients ready for surgery including pre-op care and ensuring operation and anaesthetic consents are valid - Provide good and accurate documentation related to medical record Monitoring patients’ vital signs, identifying post-surgery issues, and reporting any concerns to surgeons or consultants - Treating post-surgery symptoms, such as low oxygen or haemoglobin levels - Helping patients with supporting aids - Provide health care education about musculoskeletal conditions and home-care education after discharge
Provide nursing support and monitoring conditions of the elderly persons who are identified as close contacts / confirmed COVID-19 cases in the RCHs. - Provide care services and medical surveillance/ support with the collaboration of the Department of Health - Transferring patients/ the elderly persons with emergency condition (e.g. SOB) to the hospital - Receive cases from the hospital/RCHs Discharge cases back to the RCHs - AOM performing for all the elderly persons Assist in medical round - Assessment of wound - Foley insertion/Foley change - NG tube insertion/NG tube change - Monitoring of bedside care performing by the healthcare assistant - Infection control monitoring
Working in acute medical ward, as a case nurse of 12-16 patients each day. Not only as a case nurse but also assist in performing routine care such as: - Vital signs taking and documenting - H'stix taking and documenting for monitoring blood glucose level - AOM performing for all patients in ward - Assist doctors to perform procedures like liver biopsy, pleurodesis, etc. - Work to the best of my ability with different interdisciplinary team to provide optimum care to all patients that I have encountered - Provide individual patient education, such as insulin injection technique, medication regime to follow after discharge, in accordance to nursing practice - Cooperate with all other nurses and professional carers in ward to facilitate ward practices and provide best quality care to all patients
