I am a seasoned Software Engineer with experience developing across many platforms (mobile, web, voice and desktop). I enjoy leading teams working on consumer facing products from inception all the way to production. I am a strong proponent of launching quickly, iterating often, simple design and open source code. I thrive when working at the intersection of engineering, product and design. I’m always up for a challenge, and enjoy working with creative, multifaceted people that inspire and push me to think bigger with every new project. If you're working on something exciting and need some help, give me shout! https://github.com/tristanhimmelman
I lead a small software development team focused on keeping Hearst at the forefront of emerging technology. We partner with Hearst’s portfolio of businesses to provide education on emerging platforms and technologies and launch projects and prototypes which integrate these technologies. Our current focus is on AI-driven products including voice applications, AR and ML. In the past 2 years we have launched 6 voice applications on Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
I served as an internal Mobile Development Consultant for all groups within Hearst’s portfolio of businesses. My role consisted of providing guidance on mobile application architecture and development and I partnered with 2 of these groups to lead the following major initiatives: - A white label mobile application platform supporting Hearst’s 17 digital magazine publications (iOS and Android) - A white label mobile application platform supporting Hearst’s 30 local tv news stations (iOS and Android)
- Built the iOS and Android mobile app for BranchOut, a professional social network which quickly grew to 30 million users - Built the iOS and Android app for Talk.co, a chat platform for businesses
At 2XM Interactive I was part of a small consulting team which handled building a variety of mobile software products for clients. My involvement in projects spanned all aspects of product development (brainstorming, estimation, prototyping, user experience, development and testing). While at 2XM I worked on projects for iOS, Android and Mac OS X.
My work at Bam Strategy consisted of building a variety of web applications from the ground up and maintaining/updating previously existing projects. Most notably, I led development of two high-traffic digital coupon websites (webSaver.ca and BrandSaver.ca) that processed over 40,000 coupons a day. In addition, I developed internal frameworks to automate, simplify and accelerate development on new projects.
