About

With a strong foundation in customer service, I embarked on a transformative journey with Serco at Auckland South Corrections. My experience in customer service instilled in me the core values of empathy, effective communication, and unwavering dedication to satisfying unique needs. This seamless transition to my new career as a Corrections Officer has allowed me to apply these essential skills to a different set of clientele – the individuals within the corrections system. My passion for reintegration, a commitment deeply rooted in my experience, has become the driving force behind my work. I firmly believe in the power of second chances and understand that each individual has a unique journey towards rehabilitation and reintegration. My customer service background has equipped me with the ability to actively listen, empathize, and communicate effectively with the inmates, making their rehabilitation process more successful and sustainable. Furthermore, my dedication to supporting Maori cultural-focused units and Pacifica-focused units stems from my recognition of the importance of cultural identity and community ties in the reintegration process. By fostering an environment that respects and celebrates cultural diversity, I am contributing to a more inclusive and successful reintegration program. In my role at Serco, I have witnessed firsthand the transformation that can occur when individuals are provided with the tools, guidance, and support they need to turn their lives around. I am driven by the belief that everyone deserves a chance at redemption and reintegration into society. My journey from customer service to corrections has been a remarkable one, and it has reinforced the idea that the skills gained in one area of life can be valuable assets when applied with purpose and passion to a different field. I am committed to continuing this meaningful work, working towards a brighter future for those in the corrections system, and promoting the ideals of reintegration, cultural awareness, and second chances.
