Torsten Albrecht

Senior Researcher at MPI-GEA - Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology and at PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research

Berlin Metropolitan Area

About

Torsten Albrecht is a co-developer of the Parallel Ice Sheet Model (PISM) and participated in various community efforts on Antarctic ice sheet stability and to sea level change. He implemented a parameterization of tabular iceberg calving and for the interaction of damage evolution and Antarctic ice shelf dynamics. Torsten conducted ensembles of glacial cycle simulations with PISM applied to the Antarctic Ice Sheet and is currently interactively coupling PISM to ocean models (FESOM, PICO) as well as to a solid-Earth model (VILMA). He is part of the ERAlab on Earth system resilience at PIK and generally interested in climate science, sustainability science and data analysis.
