About

I've run a nuclear submarine and 8 million square feet of hyperscale data centers. The physics are different. The leadership requirements are not. My career has been defined by high-consequence infrastructure where performance, security, speed, and trust all matter, and where the cost of getting it wrong is real. That started in the U.S. Navy, where I served for 21 years and commanded the USS Providence (SSN-719). I was selected as one of two officers Navy-wide for the Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale Award for Inspirational Leadership. World-changing ideas still need infrastructure worthy of the ambition behind them. AI doesn't run on vision. It runs on power, cooling, silicon, networks, and organizations disciplined enough to operate it at scale. That's the work I've spent my career doing. That operating discipline carried into hyperscale technology: Oracle: SVP of Physical Infrastructure. Managed a $1.3B budget and 1,000+ person organization. Scaled Oracle Cloud from 4 to 41 regions, launched a new region every 21 days, cut deployment time 68%, doubled capacity, and reduced cost 55%. AWS: Global Head of Data Center Design and Engineering. Built global delivery and capacity planning systems that supported 40,000+ developers. Meta: Global Director of Data Center Operations. Operated 8M+ square feet across 30+ hyperscale facilities at 99.99% uptime and drove $24M per year in savings. Most recently, as President and GM of Northstar Enterprise and Defense, I built modular, defense-grade AI infrastructure for enterprise, federal, and DoD customers, signing five Fortune 500 and federal contracts in four months and building a $700M+ qualified AI compute pipeline. That work brought me to Apple, where I now lead infrastructure for the IS&T organization. Technology alone is not enough. It has to work. Perfectly. Every time. At Apple, that means owning the experience, down to the physical infrastructure that makes everything else possible. Excellence isn't a standard you impose. It's one you build into the system. My focus areas: hyperscale data centers, cloud infrastructure, networks, data center operations, AI infrastructure, modular deployment, power infrastructure, nuclear energy and SMRs, sovereign and classified compute, custom silicon, GPUs, and defense technology. I serve as Veterans Chair at Infrastructure Masons, helping veterans move into technology careers, and have been recognized as a Top 10 Data Center Influencer five years running. If you're working on hard infrastructure problems or building the next generation of it, I'd like to connect.
