AxioMx Inc. was a biotechnology start-up (acquired by Abcam) that developed novel recombinant antibody technologies and commercialized recombinant antibodies. My role was to establish the company's commercial services program from inception and manage all global sales and marketing functions. The AxioMx commercial offering was comprised of custom recombinant antibody development and optimization services for pharma, biotech, diagnostic, government, and research organizations. ➢ Built the sales organization from the onset and developed the company's business foundation across 40+ clients in pharma, biotech, academic, and government institutions. ➢ Created and executed short and mid-range commercial plans, including strategic and revenue objectives, key target market designations and entry strategies, and service line offering and market positioning.
Managed the Global Genomic Services Commercial Operations, which was comprised of a sales, marketing, and channel management staff over 25 individuals. Responsible for strategic & tactical business planning, performance metric establishment and tracking, budgeting, commission plan design, sales forecasting, and staff development. Beckman Coulter Genomics’ services included consisted of next-generation sequencing, Sanger sequencing, genotyping, gene expression, biologics testing, and bioinformatic analysis. ➢ Served on the Genomics Division core leadership team and responsible for working with the leadership team to drive improved joint sales and operations performance. ➢ Established and executed the 2011 Commercial Operations priorities. The result was to focus selling/marketing efforts on the key strategic service offerings of Next Generation DNA sequencing (NGS), genotyping, and bioinformatics. These were the greatest growth opportunities for the Division. ➢ Launched target capture NGS service, generating a new source of revenue for the company in the rapidly growing NGS market.
Gene Logic, a Division of Ocimum Biosolutions Inc. Managed the Genomics and LIMS Global Sales, Customer Support and Insides Sales Teams. Product portfolio consisted of genomic data generation/analysis services, gene expression reference databases, and LIMS systems. All programs supported target/marker discovery and validation programs in pharmaceutical and biotech companies. ➢ Managed the integration of the Gene Logic database and Ocimum LIMS sales team into single group. This team generated $17M+ of revenue from gene expression databases and LIMS sales. ➢ Evolved marketing/selling strategy to extend the life cycle of BioExpress® and Ascenta® System databases. This produced over $4M in custom BioExpress database revenue. ➢ Managed, with the operations team, customer expectations during a genomic services deliverables crisis. Preserved approximately $750K in quarterly revenue. ➢ Worked in coordination with other senior managers in the U.S. and India to develop and implement sales, marketing, and operational plans.
