    • Manager, TechOps/DevOps
      Dec 2017 - Aug 2021 · 3 yrs 9 mos

Responsible for the core infrastructure components that power some of the largest online multiplayer games. The role revolves around both internal and external customers, building infrastructure and tooling to solve a multitude of technical problems. I have an end to end understanding of our products, which allows me to understand and anticipate what infrastructure changes our customers might need. Balancing operational challenges with project delivery is part of daily life, ensuring we are responding to customer issues, whilst still progressing forward with platform improvements. Helping individuals grow and supporting them to take on new challenges is a key part of what I do, building both technical and non technical skill sets.

Part of the NOC team responsible for a European gaming network running on Cisco and Extreme hardware. Team responsibilities were to troubleshoot/diagnose and resolve issues on a global server farm running gaming applications on Windows/Linux/Unix. In addition to this, three times a year I helped the events team to plan, install and run a 3000+ host network at one of the largest LAN gaming events in the UK. This event ran 24x7 for 4 days and required fast-paced support and improvisation!

A one year work placement that was later extended to a full time position. I was working as part of a small team responsible for all aspects of IT in a medium sized business. Day to day activities included user support, system maintenance and system development. Development was self driven based upon user needs and business growth. Work was both solo and team based, so I am used to completing projects from initial ideas right up to project finishing. I learnt to be professional at all times when dealing with all manner of problems.
