About

As maritime system supplier, ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH announced in 2018 an AUV Rental Service. Today, two AUV systems are available through ATLAS ELEKTRONIK’s Danish subsidiary ATLAS MARIDAN Aps. The opportunity to rent ATLAS ELEKTRONIK’s latest unmanned underwater technology supports customers within the offshore oil and gas, renewable energy, Unexploded Ordnance (UxO) and naval markets. The new AUV/ROV SeaCat has finalized its serial maturity process and passed the certification process covering a wide range of requirements for system robustness, environmental conditions, navigational accuracy and transport safety. The SeaCat system is designed to enhance the user’s agility in meeting high demands for a wide range of offshore surveys. Capable of providing high-level performance and survey accuracy, SeaCat is an efficient, low infrastructure vehicle that can be operated from any platform. SeaCat AUVs are designed to collect high resolution sonar data geo-referenced by a survey grade positioning system. A highly accurate Navigation System fulfills navigational accuracy requirements to highest international standards. Rated to 600 meters depth and with an endurance of up to 24 hours at 3 knots (depending on configuration), SeaCat is suitable for a broad range of operations. The in-field exchangeable payload section allows for a task related sensor suite chosen by the customer. The available payload included initially to the rental pool will be SeaCat’s Survey Head hosting a wideband multibeam echosounder, a camera and light source and a connecting port for towed magnetometer systems. By default, SeaCat comes equipped with a side scan sonar for high resolution seabed mapping.

Since its early beginnings, TKMS MARIDAN ApS has been a leading developer and integrator of AUVs and has been supporting customers with high-quality solutions. The company is specialized in development of the systems for control of underwater vehicles as well as the integration of payload sensors. The company was founded in 1992 by Anders Bjerrum as a developer of an autonomous under water robot. In 2001, the first fully developed M600 AUV was delivered to DeBeers Marine. ATLAS and MARIDAN started an exclusive cooperation in the field of AUVs in 2003. One year later, ATLAS ELEKTRONIK acquired 100 % of the share capital of MARIDAN and the company was renamed to ATLAS MARIDAN ApS. In the following years, ATLAS MARIDAN supported ATLAS ELEKTRONIK as a consultant and developer of different AUVs: SeaOtter, SeaHorse, IMGAM. The company is located in Rungsted Kyst and has an approved AUV/USV test area in Øresund. MARIDAN’s new mission is to become an ATLAS ELEKTRONIK competence center for AUVs and to support customers with high-quality solutions. Therefore, MARIDAN expanded into a second business area, providing AUVs for next generation survey and naval operations. The systems will deliver excellence of performance, be operational in all environments and regions of the world and deliver results to clients, exceeding their expectations of operational efficiency and safety. MARIDAN runs its business in accordance with the principles of corporate governance, safety for our personnel, the environment and assets and has set in place a clear system of management accountability.
