Perform distribution system coordination reviews for misoperations and outages. This includes event analysis on Feeder breakers and recloser relays using SEL’s synchoWAVE software from reports generated by in field devices upon operation. Develop settings for new devices / replacement equipment using our protection philosophy which includes arc flash analysis, load flow and circuit analysis. Utilizing TCC graphs to ensure time separation between devices and optimize zones of selectivity for each devices’ reach, coordinating with a variety of devices such as SEL651R reclosers, Cooper VWE / V4H reclosers, S&C tripsavers and various size Kearney QA fuses. Relays commonly programmed are SEL-351s, SEL-751, SEL-551. Recloser controls programmed are SEL 651RA, SEL651R, Cooper Form 6, S&C tripsavers. Volt/Var optimization experience to improve power factor and end of line voltage levels including programming Beckwith capacitor controls in various sizes and Voltage regulator tap settings. Develop settings for transformer differential, bus differential, low side breakers, bus tie breakers and feeder breakers to ensure protection against damage to substation equipment and provide alternative load pickup for switching. Develop settings for portable substations for outage restoration / scheduled maintenance of substation equipment. Assist Distribution Control Center with caution calculations and protection schemes during switching operations and peak loading situations. Trained wire walker for when Public Safety Response Team (PSRT) is active during bad weather and system restoration is urgent
