Tom is trained in technical industrial design, microbiological soil science, different forms of regenerative agriculture, and micro-economics. He has worked for over 20 years in innovation around Europe, with the last twelve years working in the circular economy (CE) within industry, and the last 3 increasingly including agriculture. Tom acts as a ‘translator’ and bridge between different scientific disciplines; and supports collaborative regenerative development, from start-ups, to company’s, to regions. He technically and strategically assists and coaches professionals developing regenerative projects around topics, such as zero-waste products, green-tech and citizen-science, to agricultural projects and regional development; creates awareness events; and teaches and publishes in academic journals – on the topics of systemic design and ecodesign. Working across the company on new business innovation strategies. Including: Product-Service-Systems (PSS) in the washing business; creation of a living-lab and consortium; remanufacturing EU circular economy project.
Developed an ‘internet-of-everything’ (IoE) consortium 'spin out'. The product/service/experience businesses were based around home-chefs, education, pedagogy, and play.
The development of foundational innovation strategies for all the cooking business units, and the clothes washing business unit. The objective was to form new sustainable business strategies, with an internal wiki for knowledge collaboration.
Co-lead as a 'player-manager' in this product innovation project from conception to final production. Developed a new microwave platform and innovation process, with the objective to invigorate local production, international sales, and the brand; and to develop ecodesign innovations, including reusable packaging, and repair services.
