● Operating within a small company, fulfilling a number of roles, performing at every level of the business and software life cycles. Working with and directing colleagues across all departments ● Designing and building software subsystems across the entire codebase from kernel drivers for new electronic hardware, to the latest UI ● Lead software engineer for many projects, including large expensive (circa £1m) machines with high profile blue chip organisations. ● Ensuring clear communication in an environment where English is not the first language ● Consulting with customers on requirements for new systems and modifications to existing systems ● Working on new designs from the electronic and mechanical departments and integrating these into the existing software framework ● Creating innovative solutions and putting forward ideas to progress the business into new areas and refining existing products and services ● Designing and delivering bespoke training courses for USL equipment, modifying these courses to cope with different customer requirements, over many industries and varying number of delegates of all abilities ● Being autonomous, taking the initiative and fulfilling electrical and mechanical roles if required, whilst working on site in a high pressured environment ● Producing mission critical multi-threaded software, where timing and efficiency is of particular importance, including designing and writing kernel level drivers for maximum effectiveness
● Helping to build Siemens flagship VoIP product, and adhering to the strict confidentiality agreements required ● Temporary placement at Siemens head office in Germany as a development team representative, liaising between test and development teams, communicating with colleagues where English was not the first language. ● Producing and publishing innovative ideas as to possible future developments ● Working in a Scrum Agile build process, with test driven development, including unit testing and occasional pair programming ● Adhering to Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) design principles
