I am a motivated R&D scientist with over 10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry and academic research, bringing a broad scientific background and a passion for innovation. My experience has equipped me with strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, enabling me to adapt quickly and contribute effectively in collaborative, cross-functional environments. With a PhD from the University of Glasgow and a Master’s degree from the University of Bristol, I am committed to applying my expertise and transferable skills to drive scientific progress while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and continuous learning.
A multidisciplinary scientific position encompassing medicinal chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and DPMK to drive forward oncology drug discovery projects. I implement the synthesis of target compounds, the analysis of the resulting analytical and assay data and the design of novel targets. I operate and apply analytical techniques including GC, LC–MS, UPLC/HPLC, SFC, NMR, IR, and UV–Vis, with responsibility for data interpretation, batch documentation and traceability. I conduct ELN audits to ensure compliance. I am a line manager and laboratory steward, responsible for its daily running, GLP and safety. I maintain compliance with SOPs and rigorous risk assessment practices. I continually communicate progress to senior leaders, team members and manage the delivery of outsourced project work at external CROs.
I designed synthetic routes and delivered biologically active molecules for oncology projects. I operated and interpreted analytical methods (GC, LC–MS, UPLC/HPLC, NMR, IR, UV–Vis), recording results in ELNs to ensure data integrity and traceability. I adhered to SOPs and HSE guidelines, maintained disciplined documentation, and consistently met quality and timeline goals. I engaged clients through calls, presentations, and detailed scientific reports.
A medicinal chemistry position, working alongside OxStem Oncology, aiming to identify a new class of drug for the differentiation of 'cancer stem-like cells' (CSLCs) to more benign states
Research into the synthesis and conformation analysis of novel polyfunctional fluorinated macrocycles for drug discovery as a part of the FLUORINE21 Initial Training Network (ITN) hosted by AstraZeneca
