Mechanical Training Instructor - Delivering Foundation, Post Foundation and Commercial Courses for Mechanical Disciplines at various levels to promote competency and develop worksite skills for Oil and Gas based technicians and engineers for onshore and offshore locations. Involved in course development and review to upgrade and promote high quality material and delivery.
AgipKCO / NCPOC (Shell) at the Atyrau Training Centre in Kazakhstan, as a Senior Training Advisor / Instructor. As part of the special project to train National Graduates to be integrated into the workforce.
Developing Mechanical Engineering Graduates to Level 3 VQ. The training was carried out at the Petroleum Training Centre (PTC) in Ahmadi, Kuwait. The content was developed to include underpinning knowledge and practical workshop training. The qualifications awarded were to UK standards through the UK awarding body EAL and EMTA. The program was approved, moderated and verified externally by the awarding body with a 100% success rate.
My duties were developing and teaching several HND units, including Condition Monitoring, Plant Maintenance, Vibration Analysis, Industrial Plant Maintenance, Applied Mechanics, Mechanical Analysis and Machine Design Elements. Also delivering short courses for Marine and Steam Engineering Knowledge to the Senior Marine Engineers for advanced competence qualification prior to sitting the MCA exams. To carry out competence assessments for marine engineer cadets preparing portfolio’s for VQ qualification.
Contracted on secondment to Shell, Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia, Shell Northern Business Unit, Brent Offshore, Aberdeen. Duties; Set up Condition Based Maintenance Systems, Vibration Analysis, Recip’ Trap, Phase Current Analysis, Lubricating Oil Analysis etc. To carry out laser alignment and dynamic balancing of machines in situ, onshore and offshore as required. To train client staff to carry out data collection, first line analysis, optical laser alignment and machine balancing. I also performed trouble shooting investigations for the client to identify defects in anomalous machines on a call off basis as required, and in many cases effect or oversee the repair.
