Eng Kiat started his career as a Staff Nurse in Tan Tock Seng Hospital and processed over 10 years of direct clinical nursing experiences in various departments. On the first clinical placement in Ambulatory Surgery Ward, Eng Kiat has received regular positive feedback from the students and patients, consistently exceeding his work performance expectation. He took the initiatives to upgrade his professional knowledge and skill further while striving to maintain his work performance. The Nursing Star Teacher Award, 2017, was awarded to him to recognize his patience personality trail toward educating the next generation of nurses. Eng Kiat rotated out of Ambulatory Surgery Ward to the General (Med-Surgical) Ward due to his eagerness and capacity to seek new knowledge and clinical skills to guide and educate the next generation of student nurses. Eng Kiat was able to demonstrate dynamic and robust Leadership in leading the general ward's daily operation. He is able to work under pressure with tight schedules. His extreme dedication to education and the next generation's nurturing was recognized and rectified by the management. He was awarded the Preceptor Award, 2019 for being an outstanding preceptor. In the same year, he has also received his Long Service Award (5-years) in appreciation of his commitment and dedication to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He pursued his post-graduate education on MSc in Applied Gerontology at Nanyang Technological University with support from the management. Eng Kiat aspires to be an expert in the healthcare and eldercare industry. He believes that a positive environment would result in a ripple of positive effect for individual, family, community and nation. These would fortify and maximize individual abilities to learn, excel and contribute to the community and nation.
