As Executive Director of Tech for Net Zero, a finance think tank and founders network initiated by Breakthrough Energy and the German Energy Agency (dena), we work towards fixing fixing the capital market to accelerate climate technology deployment at scale. Our work on finance and policy enables cleantech growth through innovative funding models for first-of-a-kind (FOAK) facilities, enhances access to credit via counter- and performance guarantees, and catalyzes market demand with instruments including carbon contracts for difference (CCfDs), cleantech procurement, and net zero mandates. By bridging public, private, and philanthropic resources, we aim to unlock the industrial transformation by cutting the cost of technology for a net zero economy. As Senior Program Manager for the Green Hydrogen Scale-Up, I led a cross-ministerial task force with a €800 million combined operating budget and credit line to accelerate the green hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) markets. I focused the task force on large-scale hydrogen facility development and PtX value chains across Germany, Europe, and emerging markets. I spearheaded the development of the multi-billion H2Global Growth Fund, a pioneering Contract for Difference fund with a double-auction mechanism to drive market ramp-up for hydrogen and PtX derivatives. As Head of Business Development, I led strategic impact investments, managed key industry accounts, and built partnerships emphasizing innovation, technology, and co-investment in global markets. During my 4-month sabbatical, I led the Volt campaign for the 2019 European Parliament elections, achieving key outcomes in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Building a team of nearly 1,000 volunteers and managing over 60 projects within a 4-month timeline, I focused on campaign strategy development, scaling operations, and fostering effective execution across multiple regions. This led to the successful election of the lead candidate, Volt MEP Damian Boeselager, to the European Parliament in 2019. Key achievements include establishing a robust volunteer network, coordinating events and media relationships, and implementing a streamlined communication cascade to unify messaging across all campaign fronts. Great experience, amazing team, hardest work of my life - absolutely worth it. Learn more about Volt Europe: https://volteuropa.org/
