Creating new PowerShell scripting and modules, maintaining and modifying existing scripting and modules in PowerShell to create, update, and support asset and logical management of datacenter devices (servers, network devices, rack and power information) tracking systems (asset management databases and tracking systems and files via REST/JSON/XML/SQL/FileSystem scripting to database API endpoints and devices, bug creation and tracking via API endpoints, helper scripting and modules for information gathering and synchronization between tracking systems. Utilizing existing and scripting modules that I helped to create to configure assets for use in deployment into datacenters worldwide (location, rack,power, networking, naming, addressing, out-of-band management interface updates and changes).
Created reporting using SQL 2012 SSRS, SSAS, PowerPivot, PowerQuery, PowerView to show operational trends with SCOM as a data source. Managed a team of offshore resources responsible for Event Management response as part of the Microsoft Retail Store Business. Trained and guided team to increase efficiency and meet or exceed service level agreements (SLAs) for all event-based incidents through revising response procedures, on-boarding documentation, eliminating cross-team dependencies. Prior to my arrival, team was only able to meet SLA approximately 30% of the time. By the end of my tenure, team was meeting above 95% of response time SLAs. Created PowerShell scripting for information gathering from various sources.

Key contributor to the success of Transaction Platform Holiday Readiness in ensuring availability for systems that support Xbox Live, Windows Azure, Office 365, and Windows Marketplace – played a pivotal role in maintaining practices in service areas including Monitoring, Deployment, Incident Management, and Release Management. Transitioned to a Service Engineer position focused on Monitoring (internal – System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)/external – Gomez), instituting a lifecycle matching the rhythm of the business, codifying/standardizing of processes in the monitoring discipline. Developed management packs for the service utilizing System Center Operations Manager. Provided strategic direction for the monitoring discipline within the Commerce organization in the form of project planning and consolidation of multiple System Center Operations Manager instances/management packs. Managed and directed a team of four vendor resources that all contributed to the monitoring platform.
Exchange Hosted Archive (EHA) Managed and coordinated various functions to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects. Duties included coordinating with providing strategic direction for the larger team for major projects, conducting off-shore training for out-of-region team members, and orchestrating implementation of the systems. Collaborated on creation of transition plan for moving entire service operation function to a vendor-managed service model. Supervised an international team consisted of 5 in-region and 4 out-of region members in supporting the EHA service. Redesigned and redeployed the monitoring system for the Exchange Hosted Archive services for both internal (System Center Operations Manager) and external (customer-facing) monitoring. Led and supervised a large team in implementing major projects such as Migration of data, and service releases. Established and nurtured relationships with teams outside of organization to enhance efficiency of operational day-to-day issues, as well as systems outside my own organization (both CloudDB - the precursor to SQL Azure and Forefront e-mail filtering) Reduced COGS (Cost of Goods and Services) by automating repetitive tasks where possible using scripting, and leveraging off-shore resources for those tasks where automation wasn't possible. Spearheaded effort among legacy team members in re-documenting the system in a service-area focused run-book for transition to vendor-managed service model.
Played a pivotal role in crucial phases of project operations – ensure high availability to effectively respond all escalations within the required SLA timeframe; coordinated in deploying all major releases; and provided support to team members to accomplish objectives. Functioned as a subject matter expert for most of the components used in the BPOS service, including all roles of Exchange 2007, SharePoint 2007, Monitoring (SCOM and dependent interactive health reporting systems), Active Directory, the customer-facing web portals and services. Served as a resource for our Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams to assist teams exceed their accountability goals for the resolution of bugs based on automated alerting through documentation of troubleshooting guides, review of processes, and tuning of alert streams. Identified problems, developed solutions, and incorporated solutions in to subsequent releases of the product as well as helping to define what would become the Office365 product. Participated in an on-call rotation, contributing to 100% of resolutions for high priority issues while on-call. Submitted and obtained approval from Change Advisory Board and Management team on 100% of changes implemented to the production environment. Highly involved in the deployment of all major releases after RTM for the BPOS service in all environments. Contributed to improving the deployment process that decreased total deployment time and minimized downtime during deployments in each environment. Received the Q2 FY2009 award for team excellence in the BOSG division as recognition for the efforts and initiatives on improving deployment efficiency.
