Since 1988 I work abroad, mainly in African countries. I started as project-advisor, coordinator in Mwanga and Arumeru, small-scale irrigation development, mainly in the steep mountains, with special attention for forestry, erosion control, water-efficiency, local organisation, gender-awareness ( TIP,1988-1997, SNV-Netherlands Embassy). Another 5 years followed in DRDP, rural development in Kagera-region Tanzania, as district advisor to guide the district towards a more customer-oriented approach. Later I worked for Cordaid in South-Sudan, preparing a project to assist refugees from Northern Sudan on their way to resettle in South Sudan (2005). Construction, project-administration, coordination with all other organisations (Government, UN, NGO's). This was followed by assitance on irrigation development in Mbeya, Tanzania for Danida/ Mbeya Provincial Authorities. In 2008 I worked for Sheladia Inc. (United States) on a number of short missions to West-African countries. This lasted untill 2011. More permanent I was in Afghanistan to advice the Irrigation Department of Ministry of Agriculture/Irrigation and Livestock and developped in cooperation with World Bank an investment program (ongoing). Last 2 years I prepared (with Netherlands Embassy and GoRwanda) a program how to make IWRM practicable.
Preparation proposals for Integrated water resource management. Formulation of ideas, plans, to involve local community and other stakeholders in watershed management (cooperation with Rwanda National Government and Netherlands Embassy). Planning irrigation development for Ministery of Agriculture, irrigation and Livestock (Afghan Government, World Bank).
