Tjeerd is a senior project manager with a background in mechanical engineering and has a Bachelor of Science degree. After his study he started his professional career at the Shell Company working on alternative energy applications. Hereafter he continued his career at Tata Steel Europe and became a senior project manager. NedTrain is a subsidiary company of the Dutch Railways. NedTrain specializes in maintenance on rolling stock. The Haarlem division is specialized in refurbishment and overhauling. The scope of the project is essential replacement of low voltage cabling of all mBk coaches of the Dutch Railway company. RMMV (Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles) is part of the international company Rheinmetall Defence. RMMV is an important provider of complete solutions in the market for military wheeled vehicles, covering the entire range of armoured and unarmoured transport, command and role-specific vehicles for the international armed forces. As an engineering project leader I support the Boxer vehicle program. The Boxer is a multi-role armoured vehicle which is developed for the German and Dutch army. I am responsible for the development and qualification of the NL Boxer cargo and GNGP variant. These vehicles meet the highest requirements in terms of protection, mobility and functionality. As a project leader I manage an international team of engineers, contractors and suppliers to develop the vehicles. This includes responsibility for qualification of the vehicles, to prove that the design of the vehicle complies with the customer requirements. Therefore I manage the production of prototypes for customer qualification trials.

The project involves modernization of a 15 year old intercity train. After upgrading the train meets the latest requirements in terms of comfort, reliability and safety.
