UNIQUE EXPERIENCES I was born and raised in Hong Kong, China and for 15 years I was completely immersed in the society. I had the opportunity to travel, learn the native language, and explore different cultures. Upon returning to America, my perspective on the world was changed. Initially, it was a huge culture shock transitioning to Connecticut, but nonetheless, I adjusted quickly and excelled in my three years at an American high school.
-Perform courthouse operational and security duties to facilitate the processes of the Stamford judicial district. Utilizing metal detection strategies to screen contraband or dangerous items from entering into the court facility. -Actively working within the courthouse/courtrooms to maintain order, take individuals into custody, and control prisoner movement. -Working within the lockup to temporarily house prisoners, search incoming detainees, and ensure a court appearance and transportation for incarcerated individuals. -Maintaining professionalism when interacting with members of the public and directing them to different offices and services within the courthouse. -Relying on split second decision making to produce the best possible outcome while complying with current policies and procedures that are in place.
Currently being trained as a Teacher’s Assistant and Peer Mentor for First Year Experience classes at the University of Delaware. This position provides me with many opportunities to develop my interpersonal skills with students, and teach alongside established Professors at the University of Delaware.
Acting as Treasurer on the executive board for the Residence Student Association(RSA) at the University of Delaware.RSA is responsible for the planning, budgeting, marketing etc. of campus-wide student activities and receives funding from the university, local companies and organizations throughout the country. This organization has over 90 members every year and the executive board overseas all the representatives for their respective dormitory community councils as they plan community bonding events to improve the On-Campus populations overall college experience. The RSA e-board attends several leadership development retreats throughout the year and acts as a liaison for the students to many outside organizations/incorporation on and around campus. Specific Experience includes holding weekly meetings for the entire RSA community council population, management of finances, budgeting, and acting as an adviser to dormitory community councils on behalf of RSA and the University of Delaware. In addition I am approached regularly from sponsorship seeking organizations and present their event ideas to the executive board and give the final say on co-sponsorship decisions and overall financial asset budgeting. This position will provide me with many leadership opportunities and continuous responsibility to act as a representative of the student population as well as the University of Delaware.
I act as a Student Representative for Dickinson A/B Dormitory; a communication resource between students and the Residential Life Association. • Influential in the planning of entertainment, food and marketing efforts for on campus events. • Create and present Financial budget presentations to the RSA board of representatives to approve additional funding for school events and available budgeting options. • Active in committee's for on-campus activities, assisting/participating in University of Delaware activities.
-Collaborated with Federal Probation Officers within the district of Connecticut producing pre-trial and pre-sentence judicial documents for incoming clients. -Produce federal court documents from extensive police reports, testimonial accounts, and transcriptional evidence among others. -Developed organizational skills to maintain broad and up-to-date client information within computer systems on a myriad of different supervision requirements.
-Worked alongside U.S. Marshal Deputies as part of the threat investigations team, fugitive task force, as well as performing courtroom/judiciary functions. -Gained much insight into the acquisation of a warrant, apphrension of fugitives, and processing of criminals in Criminal Justice System. - Participated/Assisted in low-light and use of force firearms training sessions
Acting as a duel intern who provides assistance to the Office Manager and several members of the Real Estate Department at Design Within Reach. Office Management experience includes communicating with manufacturers, Upkeep and organization of Facilities within the office and across several of our furniture studios across the country. On the Real Estate side,assisting in tracking of financial expenditures, accounting, budgeting, change order requests etc. with many learning experience coming in the form of company corporate meetings, over-shadowing, and inclusion in the expansion, refurbishing, and development of new business opportunities present for Design Within Reach. This internship has opened my eyes to the unique office experience, developing and maintaining a brand, as well as the intricacies of running a successful business.
