About

They call me the Black Jesus to Black Wallstreet, Mansa Musa in his prime, or my favorite, 44 Warburg. I'm not new to this, I'm just true to this. This is Chess not checkers! Timothy Cox, President of West Louisville Dream Team, is a local developer and sweat equity philanthropist nicknamed "The Gorilla of Community Economic Development". He started his career at 18 as a special education teacher at Sacred Heart Montessori UCDC. He has owned multiple companies starting in 2005 with a small vending machine business to working with Slip N Slide Records then moving on in 2013 to start a construction business as a HUD contractor followed by JW Marketing Kentucky, partnering with civil rights era business magnate "JW" Stokes Jr, who was lead corporate sponsor to Martin Luther King Jr. for The Poor Peoples Campaign. In 2017, Timothy assisted minority small businesses by organizing a construction group that worked with the Building Trades Unions to implement new bonding and insurance rules on The Omni Hotel project, which increased minority participation from 3% to almost 27% for which his team received a "Living Legend" award and standing ovation in Frankfort, KY during a special session of the KY State House of Representatives. In 2021, Timothy served as Chairman of United Development Council, a division of National Association of Real Estate Brokers, Louisville Chapter. Since 2015, Timothy has been honored as Ambassador to Mound Bayou, Mississippi and serves as lead community economic developer for the Mound Bayou Movement, World Conference of Mayors and the Historic Black Towns and Settlements Alliance. His role with his company, West End CDE Inc, A Federally Recognized Native American Entity of the U.S. Treasury, has been pivotal in changing the narrative and increasing access to capital for Native American, black and brown people. Timothy was recently awarded for his work in community economic development, globally, in Cannes, France, by The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund. Timothy's latest community economic development special project, Unity Trade Route, partnered with King Oklepeme Sasraku II of Ghana, is a multinational collaboration between the United States and Africa to implement cross border trade of Native American, black and brown products and services. Timothy is currently assisting the African American Council of Elders, based in Wichita, KS, as they develop 500 acres in Somanya, Ghana for Wasenor, a 7th Division Tribe of the Yilo Krobo, created as a migration destination for African Americans that want to come back home to Africa.
