About

I am a qualified European Patent Attorney with substantial experience in drafting patent applications to protect the inventions of multi-national companies, SMEs and individual inventors. I have prosecuted patent applications through to grant, and have also opposed and defended granted patents in opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office. I advise clients on a range of intellectual property issues, including pre-application consultancy work such as patent searching and patentability advice, as well as freedom-to-operate searching and analysis. In particular my expertise lies in mecahnical inventions, with the bulk of my experience coming from working with inventions in the renewable energy and automotive engineering sectors which are closely related to my masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. However, I also have experience drafting patent applications for domestic appliances and tools, as well as electrical inventions.

    • A summer internship in the Vehicle Engineering team within the Special Vehicle Operations division. I was part of a team tasked with designing and testing a limited edition Range Rover vehicle. In the Vehicle Engineering team I collated parts requirements for the various stages of vehicle testing, and optimised the order of the test plan to reduce the total new parts required for testing. I also gained an insight into other areas of the business by visiting testing sites, other Jaguar Landrover manufacturing sites, and spending a few days with the Heritage division where the limited edition Jaguar E-type lightweights were being finalised.

  • Turbo Technologies Undergraduate Summer Placement at Cummins Inc.
    Jun 2014 - Sep 2014 · 4 mos

    • A summer internship with a team in the Engineering department developing next generation variable geometry turbocharger technology. • I used Creo2/Pro Engineer CAD software on a daily basis. In particular my role involved updating CAD assemblies by sourcing materials information from suppliers directly and independently through my own research, and reporting gravity and inertia analysis results to colleagues in USA. • I combined CAD modelling skills with practical knowledge and materials research to develop and produce a kiln tensile test rig for a braze joint inside the vargiable geometry turbocharger. I led this project throughout, developed models and drawings, oversaw manufacture of the test rig and created the test plan which was subsequently implemented in the validation procedure. • Throughout this placement I communicated effectively in international meetings with other members of the team from USA and India and also between different departments on site.
