As a former start-up founder I have lived through the start-up cycle several times, from ideation and building teams to raising funds and exits.
Pacific Channel is a leading Asia-Pacific funds management firm specialising in deep-tech, venture capital and alternative investments focused on the areas of ag/food, health and the environment. The company has funds and portfolio across NZ, Australia and Asia. I support Pacific Channel's global activities and work directly with our portfolio companies, including those from the former ENGIE Factory portfolio. I sit on the boards of Verta Bioenergy, PHNXX Singapore, Polar Cold and Cetogenix, and serve as a board observer at GetSolar and Amplicity.
ENGIE Factory was ENGIE group's early stage venture capital and venture building arm. I built and invested in start-ups contributing to the group's key focus area: the energy transition.
INSEACT uses insects to upcycle palm oil waste to produce sustainable proteins. INSEACT was acquired in 2023. - Raised US $1.5m in funding from Asian Development Bank, VCs and others - Signed sales of more than USD $10mn - Designed M&A process that led to acquisition - Grew the team to 13 people
Headed the Asian expansion for Innovafeed - a French startup that has raised US $490mn
Holland Milk was a developer, producer and marketer of infant nutrition products. With several brands in Asia and revenues of approximately EUR 4mn, Holland Milk was one of a very limited number of companies with access to the extremely tightly regulated $20bn Chinese infant formula market.
