Mr Keating has over 30 years’ experience working in engineering roles, aircraft maintenance and wider Defence policy and capability development. He has a broad range of knowledge in capability engineering, aircraft systems, project management and development, telecommunications, information technology and various Defence capabilities and systems. In the past twelve years he has worked on several major Defence projects including AIR90, DEF102 and JP2064. These roles have been both diverse and challenging and which have enabled him to be able to step into new environments and technologies with little support and to quickly become a highly effective member within the project or team. Furthermore, and through his initiatives within JP2064, Tim was able to manage significant efficiencies and across all branches of Defence with his final recommendations and this undoubtedly translated into substantial cost savings across the project. In addition to his engineering skills and experience, he has also provided leading support to Air Force HQ for security policy advice and guidance to enable significant improvements to their security posture. He has worked on business architecture modelling for the Joint Strike Fighter Division to align current F-18 aircraft processes and procedures to the new and vastly more complex F-35 aircraft processes encompassing multinational requirements. These roles have supplemented his technical skills and enhanced his ability to incorporate technologies into an efficient system of processes to ensure productive management of a capability. Through his experience in these projects and roles, Tim has developed an enhanced understanding of current issues facing the Australian Defence Force and Industry as they seek to leverage technology to improve the speed and lethality of combat operations through the introduction into service of improved situational awareness and decision support capabilities. Mr Keating is a highly qualified and experienced Systems Engineer who has worked on a wide range of programs and projects in all stages of the project life cycle. He has excellent written and oral communication skills and is able work effectively with technical and non-technical staff at all levels of the project’s organisation. He is an excellent team player with an open and consultative, people-oriented leadership style and a demonstrated ability to deliver superior results through a team or autonomous environments for any role that he occupies.
