Over a decade of building, architecting and leading teams, primarily in fintech. Now taking that skillset into whatever comes next.
Engine provides core banking technology to financial institutions globally, based on the platform that runs Starling Bank in the UK. Led multiple engineering teams and set technical direction across the core platform. Relocated to Toronto to become the on-site technical lead for Engine's first North American deployment, a full core banking migration of Tangerine Bank (Scotiabank) for 2 million+ customers. Served as the technical interface between Tangerine and Engine's London engineering teams across every domain of the platform.
Contract role at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, working on the bank's proprietary platform for processing investments and advisory projects across its global portfolio. Worked across a large-scale distributed microservices architecture covering credit, risk, and client management.
Co-founded and built an automated subtitling platform before accessibility features became standard across video platforms. Launched on Product Hunt, acquired customers, and exited via sale.
Joined Starling in the early days, when the team was relatively small. Worked primarily as a backend engineer across the core banking and customer service modules, with a period in infrastructure — including building some of the first Kubernetes clusters the core platform would run on. Work that now underpins a bank used by millions.
Started my career on the Barclays technology graduate scheme, rotating across teams and getting exposure to large-scale enterprise engineering early on. Worked on the IDAP platform — Barclays' identity verification service used by UK citizens to access government services — as well as the CMS platform built on Adobe AEM.
