Provide system engineering support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Supporting the Alaska Flight Service Initiative and the National Airspace System (NAS) communication and voice recorder replacement programs.
Managed roll off, and co-managed residential services for the Blue Ridge Harrisonburg/Charlottesville District. Implemented new corporate programs to refine efficiency and safety targets. Met all safety goals and improved efficiency results by more than 70 per cent over the previous year. Supervised up to 15 professional commercial drivers, including periodic, recurring, and special training, and writing annual performance reviews. Also administered disciplinary actions up to and including terminations. Provided sales leads to area sales personnel. Improved customer relations and satisfaction significantly from the prior year.
Training for follow-on role as a route manager. Piloted a revised training program to focus on one line of business (roll-off services, in my case) while still getting a good indoctrination of the other lines of business (commercial services, residential services, etc.) Half way through training program, deployed to Southern Maryland district for combination of training and assisting the district operations (two of three route managers had departed). Took over as the interim roll off route manager after less than one week on site. Improved performance of roll off services by more than 50 per cent. Decreased carried over services by 40 per cent. Successfully completed training program.
Managed the grocery department at the Frederick MD, Target store. Revised receiving activities to expedite movement of perishable goods from refrigeration/frozen trucks to in store temperature controlled storage. Resulted in approximately 30 per cent reduction of items being discarded due to being out of temperature guidelines. Supervised up to 7 part time and full time employees, including training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action.
Provide ATC expertise during a study for use of weather uncertainty information, related to convective weather, primarily for air traffic management (ATM). Assessed current weather products and tools, and their use by traffic management units (TMUs). Conduct interviews with developers and researchers to identify weather tools for integration into, or use as, decision support tools for TMUs. Develop gap analysis between current and envisioned NextGen weather products based on plans for weather information to include probabilistic information. Develop high level pathfinder strategy to use in transitioning from current weather information to NextGen envisioned weather information that is expected to contain probabilities for convective weather events. Conduct test and evaluation of transition strategy and validated its use for a selected weather product.
