Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands
Curator, writer, and educator based in Rotterdam, working at the intersection of craft, design, and contemporary art. I take a dialogic, collaborative approach to curating — developing exhibitions and texts through close conversation with artists and designers. My work explores how material practices and cultural heritage shape our social and environmental realities. I also mentor emerging designers, teach in art and design contexts, and support creatives in articulating their ideas through funding proposals and editorial strategy. Past collaborations include Nieuwe Instituut, Design Academy Eindhoven, and Noorderlicht International Photo Festival. I am also co-host of OOOReading Club — a platform for exploring language as a shared tool for reflection and connection.
As Communications and Artist Hospitality Assistant, I contribute to shaping the public voice of the Sonic Acts Biennial 2026. My responsibilities include co-writing website copy and other public-facing texts, contributing editing and journalism for Ecoes, supporting Biennial communications across channels, and assisting with artist hospitality and programme communications throughout the festival.
As thesis and graduation tutor at the DesignLab BA department, I supervise the development of the graduation thesis writing and graduation project.
I specialise in developing grant applications for designers, artists, and creative practitioners, with experience across both large- and small-scale funding calls. Drawing on my background in curating and editorial writing, I combine strategic insight with creative framing to ensure applications are both compelling and competitive. Alongside writing, I offer one-on-one coaching to help creatives position their practice towards funding opportunities, clarify their narrative, and regain direction when they feel lost in the process. This approach not only increases the strength of applications but also supports professional growth, project planning, and long-term strategy. I have written successful applications for nearly all major Dutch cultural funds, including Mondriaan Fonds, Creative Industries Fund NL, Stimuleringsfonds, Amarte Fonds, and Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, as well as several European cultural grants, with an 80% success rate (excluding applications deemed ineligible due to quota limits).
As a strategic writer, I specialize in impactful narratives that bridge the gap between creative expression and audience engagement. My work encompasses a wide range of writing services, tailored to serve the unique needs of artists, institutions, and organizations: -Copywriting: Developing clear, persuasive, and compelling copy for promotional materials, websites, and campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand voice and objectives. -Content Writing: Creating engaging newsletters, social media posts, and blog content designed to inform, inspire, and grow audiences while maintaining consistent messaging and tone. -Grant Writing: Collaborating closely with clients to articulate their projects' goals and significance, crafting persuasive proposals to secure funding and support from cultural and institutional stakeholders. -Ghostwriting: Writing artist texts, biographies, and statements that capture the essence of their practice, ensuring authenticity and resonance with diverse audiences. -Curatorial Texts: Producing exhibition descriptions, catalog essays, and didactic materials that contextualize creative works and communicate curatorial intent with clarity and nuance. -Essays and Articles: Conducting in-depth research and analysis to craft long-form essays and journalistic articles that explore critical themes at the intersection of art, design, and society. -Creative Writing for Strategic Purposes: Employing storytelling techniques to develop cultural manifestos, brand narratives, and editorial pieces that strategically position organizations within broader cultural and socio-political contexts. By combining analytical insight with a creative touch, I develop language strategies that empower clients to effectively communicate their vision, connect with their audiences, and achieve their goals. My approach is highly collaborative, emphasizing precision, adaptability, and a deep understanding of context and tone.
I led a workshop for the Social Design master’s students on developing their masterproof presentations, both as a formal academic requirement and as a format for communicating their design practice. The session introduced approaches to structuring the masterproof within the context of final exams, with an emphasis on storytelling techniques to convey process and impact. Following the workshop, I attended the students’ ‘greenlight’ presentations as an examiner, and provided one-on-one sessions offering tailored reflections and guidance on their work and presentation strategies.
Together with designer Gabriel Fontana, I co-led a workshop for Social Design master’s students focused on exploring their practice beyond the confines of academic projects. Through discursive, generative, and collaborative exercises, students were encouraged to articulate the values, methods, and contexts that shape their work. The session supported the development of professionalisation skills, framing practice as something that evolves over time, and building resilience and perspective for sustaining a career in design.
