Second-year LSE student studying BSc Politics and an incoming Summer Analyst at HSBC in the Global Payment Solutions division. Interested in pursuing a career in financial services and political risk, with a focus on modules such as International Political Economy and European Institutions. Gained work experience in the Economics Unit at Ofcom, the Communications Regulator, and developed a knowledge of political economy through extracurricular activities, including writing long-form articles for the LSE's Undergraduate Political Review and serving as a Research Analyst on the European Desk of the Political Risk and Investment Society.
I took part in the Pathways to Parliament: UK Parliament Work experience programme, including: • Developing a report into the funding in the education sector, creating a series of social media posts for parliament, producing a blog dispelling myths around apprenticeships • Listened to industry insiders from the UK Parliament ranging from the Governance Office to the Restoration and Renewal team
I spent a week working alongside the economics team at Ofcom, including: -Researching and delivering a presentation on interoperability within social media -Learning about Ofcom’s remit, the structures in place to support this, and the wider regulatory environment
I took part in ICAEW's Step Inside Accountancy Virtual Work Experience programme. During the programme I gained: - A sound understanding of the inner workings and concepts related to accounting, and the ability to identify the skills needed to pursue a career in accountancy - The ability to successfully apply knowledge of accounting by completing interactive actives and exercises - Meaningful interaction with industry professionals through live webinars - A better understanding of the career pathways within accountancy - Knowledge of key employability and transferable skills, as well as a sound awareness of employer expectations
