      Water is a priority area of German development cooperation in the Congo. The project works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to support the Congolese Government in reforming the water sector. This initiative is a joint programme with KfW Development Bank, which is repairing and expanding drinking water supply and sanitation services in 21 towns and cities. The project supports the development and implementation of sustainable building blocks for reform with the main aim of safeguarding access to drinking water supply and sanitation for the poor population in the long term. It is also improving legal and planning certainty for the water sector, which is helping to create a positive investment climate.       The project supports the transboundary water management activities of CICOS in the following four areas. Inland navigation: The project is facilitating the application of the Code on Inland Navigation CEMAC-DRC in order to improve the efficiency of inland navigation and increase security along the river. The Regional Vocational Training Centre (CRFNI): Support has been provided for the establishment of the Regional Training Centre on Inland Navigation (CRFNI), and work is now ongoing to strengthen the centre though the design and implementation of training programmes and the rehabilitation of older buildings and facilities. Water management: In collaboration with the European Union, the French Development Agency and the African Development Bank, the project is assisting CICOS with the development of decision-making instruments and procedures that will enhance the development and sustainable management of water resources in the Congo Basin. Organisational development: The project is encouraging a participatory approach in the field of water management. This involves establishing dialogue platforms through which it is possible to inform, consult and involve stakeholders during the drafting of a master plan for water resources development and management in the Congo Basin (SDAGE).

    One of my preferred jobs. For four years I worked as Advisor to the Department of Water Affairs/Groundwater Division in the Department of Water Affairs in Botswana. Most of the time i was also acting head of the Drilling Section with a workforce of 250 and responsible for restructuring the Drilling Section. Our activities included countrywide rehabilitation programme of water points, the reorganisation and computerization of the national drilling and groundwater Archive, implementation of Staff Training Programs, žResearch on innovative Well rehabilitation methods and here we developped specially the Anolyth Power Surge Treatment method. Further I was part time Lecturer at the University of Botswana for hydrogeology and drilling.
