The program strengthens relevant National Institutions (PWA/WSRC, UPWSP) and Service Providers of the Water /WW Sector in the establishment of a sustainable and resilient Water supply for Palestine
Water is a priority area of German development cooperation in the Congo. The project works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to support the Congolese Government in reforming the water sector. This initiative is a joint programme with KfW Development Bank, which is repairing and expanding drinking water supply and sanitation services in 21 towns and cities. The project supports the development and implementation of sustainable building blocks for reform with the main aim of safeguarding access to drinking water supply and sanitation for the poor population in the long term. It is also improving legal and planning certainty for the water sector, which is helping to create a positive investment climate. In particular, GIZ assists the Congolese Government through: strategic and technical advice on designing and implementing individual elements of the reform This advice focuses on strategies and legislation that aim to provide a lasting solution to the challenges of ensuring effective service provision and safeguarding access to drinking water and sanitation. promoting long-term policy dialogue between water sector institutions The aim of this measure is to ensure that all stakeholders can shape the reform in a self-determined and autonomous way, as well as to enhance cooperation among different institutions. measures to strengthen personnel and institutional skills and resources, together with measures to make authorities and municipalities more effective.
The project supports the transboundary water management activities of CICOS in the following four areas. Inland navigation: The project is facilitating the application of the Code on Inland Navigation CEMAC-DRC in order to improve the efficiency of inland navigation and increase security along the river. The Regional Vocational Training Centre (CRFNI): Support has been provided for the establishment of the Regional Training Centre on Inland Navigation (CRFNI), and work is now ongoing to strengthen the centre though the design and implementation of training programmes and the rehabilitation of older buildings and facilities. Water management: In collaboration with the European Union, the French Development Agency and the African Development Bank, the project is assisting CICOS with the development of decision-making instruments and procedures that will enhance the development and sustainable management of water resources in the Congo Basin. Organisational development: The project is encouraging a participatory approach in the field of water management. This involves establishing dialogue platforms through which it is possible to inform, consult and involve stakeholders during the drafting of a master plan for water resources development and management in the Congo Basin (SDAGE).
Principal Advisor to the Water Supply Directorate (DGAEP) on development strategies in the water sector (MDG/PN AEPA) .Activities included preparation of a comprehensive, ten-year horizon, integrated water sector strategy, action plan and investment program, assessment of MDG needs, formulation of strategies for the concept and implementation of a national water well inventory, and the concept and co-development of a nationwide GIS water planning system for a detailed water needs analysis in rural and semi-urban areas. One of my preferred jobs. For four years I worked as Advisor to the Department of Water Affairs/Groundwater Division in the Department of Water Affairs in Botswana. Most of the time i was also acting head of the Drilling Section with a workforce of 250 and responsible for restructuring the Drilling Section. Our activities included countrywide rehabilitation programme of water points, the reorganisation and computerization of the national drilling and groundwater Archive, implementation of Staff Training Programs, Research on innovative Well rehabilitation methods and here we developped specially the Anolyth Power Surge Treatment method. Further I was part time Lecturer at the University of Botswana for hydrogeology and drilling.
