Dadurch konnte ich schon auf vielfältige Weise wertvolle Erfahrungen sammeln, und möchte das noch lange fortführen - bei fortwährend neuen Aufgaben und der Optimierung von mir vertrauten Problemlösungen. Auf diesem Weg bestärkt mich die Motivation, einen Mehrwert für mich und die gesamte Gesellschaft aus dem kollektiven Wissen und der Arbeit meines Umfeldes zu generieren. Mit manchen Projekten im kleineren und größeren Maßstab durfte ich dieses Ziel bereits erreichen, allen voran das Projekt der Buchreihe "öffi Touren". Was noch kommt? Within a short period of 6 weeks, I gained valuable insights into the daily work of a building engineer working with building performance simulation in IDA ICE to analyse architecture, building services and future climate scenarios for their impacts on indoor climate and energy use. Next to differences in project scale as well as constraints time and money wise, I learned a lot in regard to building services and how to model them simulation tools. Under close supervision of my colleague and bosses I was allowed to give it my own tries on a small scale, residential project with 4 thermal zones, resulting in precise conclusions and suggestions to the client, architect and building physicist. After a pre-liminary stage, common changes have been implemented and further analysed, where I was able to show skills I gained at university with a mould growth assessment in regard to floor cooling. Moreover, I assisted my colleague in setting up the model for a way bigger project with almost 200 thermal zones, having different user profiles and needs, from industrial kitchens to seminar rooms, from party area to residential purpose. In a joint effort, the team made a concept for zoning and for the validation of critical zones, especially considering natural ventilation in an atrium as well as a glazed, multi-storey gallery. The aim of this simulation was to proof low-effort overheating mitigation measures and to investigate the possible downsizing of the central heat pump compared to an assessment with steady state conditions. Simulations were conducted with IDA ICE and assessed within the software and the help of Excel.
