Thomas co-founded Nivalion, one of the leading European Litigation Funders, in 2016, www.nivalion.com. He stepped down as the firm’s Co-CEO at the end of 2023, now serving Nivalion as Senior Advisory Partner on Public Policy and selected strategic matters. In addition, Thomas works as a strategy consultant and generator of ideas at the interfaces of law, risk transfer, insurance solutions and tech, linking strategic investors with selected market participants. As of 2025, Thomas cofounded Neurogait AI. Neurogait is a deep-tech, AI-based screening platform for degenerative neurological diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), Dementia, ALS, and MS. Thomas is also active as a speaker, author and in policy management for his topics. His favorite roles are to act as a sounding board for creative ideas in the legal and insurance markets, and to take on sales responsibility in special matters. Thomas also takes on supervisory and advisory board mandates. Thomas started his career in a law firm in 1994 and specialized in litigation, civil procedure and the assessment of litigation risks at a Higher Regional Court. In 2000 he became member of the board of Legial AG, to develop litigation funding as an amendment to the product offering of an ERGO Group company. ERGO is one of the major insurance groups in Germany and Europe and part of Munich Re, one of the leading reinsurers and risk carriers worldwide. In 2008 Thomas was appointed member of the legal committee of BDIU, Europe’s leading association of debt collecting firms. From April 2010 until April 2016 he served as member of BDIU’s executive committee. Before joining the Litigation Funding Industry, he was in private practice specializing in litigation and appeals risk assessment. Thomas is a law graduate from the University of Regensburg. In his free time Thomas enjoys all kinds of sports, plays a mean rock'n roll guitar, and - after successfully auditioning with a cool Grunge/Rock/Shuffle band - tries to put a Fender J Bass to good use.
