About

Former reporter and editor who was sucked into the black hole that is management. Enjoys telling a good story. Respects that we are all accountable but not irredeemable. Figured out that every day is an opportunity to learn and get better. Knows that everyone needs an editor. Caught the big waves at broadcast.com, Yahoo! and AOL. Launched career at The Austin American-Statesman before wringing every last ounce of editorial possibility from the Austin Citizen and the Austin Press. Led talented teams of writers and critics at The Houston Post and The Dallas Morning News. Joined a fearless squad to launch an interactive agency and learn my first cruel business lessons. Co-founded a venture-backed digital media company that had shocking success before getting crushed in the harsh vicissitudes of modern media. Welcome to The Machine.
